Lillys valley Resorts Kodaikanal

The First Resort in Kodaikanal Since 1982 – Lilly’s Valley Resort was the very first resort to be built in Kodaikanal in 1982 by Mr. Raj A. Sukumar. Sukumar was born in the southern tip of Tamil Nadu, India. After traveling all over India, and in many parts of the world in the 70's he took up Canadian citizenship. During this period he happened to visit Kodaikanal and felt the place resembled somewhere in England he had seen! After falling in love with this place he brought the property in Kodaikanal and wanted to be a part of its future.

The place offers an excellent stay for people who have come to enjoy peace n nature…

Rajagopal, Erode,

Comments: The place is unusual, with no day to day crowd or traffic sound- the place is silent. Rooms are very comfortable, as like hilly cottages. Well maintained gardens with blooming flowers. And a reasonable tariff.
Best Experience: During sunrise, the chirps and sounds of birds really give peace of mind and we really need it at least once in a year to get rejuvenated for the whole stress and strain of the full year.
Worst Experience: None

Worst Experience

Comments: I am sorry to say, we had our worst experience in lily valley. If you are travelling with old people please avoid this place as it is most unsuited for them. the rooms were very average, dirty linen and no towels, no hot water to boot with. Even when we reached the place, we had to hunt for the front office people. We had to carry our own luggage over the stone steps and the room allotted to us were 4 or 5 levels below, though we had specifically mentioned at the time of booking that two elderly ladies were travelling with us. Our order for breakfast was taken and delivered a full two and half hours later. What more, when we frequently asked them to provide hot water for bathing, the person incharge one Mr.Shakthi told us ‘our resort can offer only so much. If you want you can leave’. We did just that. We shifted out of the resort that every afternoon. We were lucky enough to get two rooms in a decent hotel, though it was the long weekend that coincided with August 15, this year and a local festival at Kodai.
Best Experience: The garden is good. It has an old world charm.
Worst Experience: Already mentioned in Overall experience

“a joke called lilly valley”

We made bookings for this absolutely pathetic fraud of a place called lilly valley thro a website called safe wheels. This jaded place is 5-7 kms away from the town. If anyone feels it is good to be away from the hustle and bustle be prepared to stay in a god forsaken place.

I went with my parents and 2 kids. The only reason i decided to take a chance with such an off located resort(!!!) was that they promised they had adjoining rooms spacious enough to accomodate all of us.

Well to start off , there is no such thing called reception or front desk. Just imagine a timber merchant’s premises with a sleepy guy ready to enter your name in his note book. After one look at the various rooms shown to us, I immedietely drove into the town in the same taxi and booked ourselves into Kodai resort hotel near coaker’s walk. But unfortunately we could get the booking only for the next day. So we were forced to spend a nightmarish night in this Lilly thing.

The place doesn’t seem to have experienced any kind of maintanance for ages. The rooms definitely dont need a make over. They need to be pulled down. The bed linens consisted of torn, filthy, unwashed sheets smelling of bugs and moisture. About the washrooms the less said the better. The open dome which is supposed to be a restaurent offering fantastic views is just a horrible mess.

I would not recommend this place even to my worst enemy. Its a big effort to restrain myself from using harsher language. just one advice. STAY AWAY from LILLY VALLEY at any cost.

We also have a naturally occurring spring which originates from our land. We collect the fresh, delicious water and pump it to the kitchen for cooking and to our rooms for washing and bathing.

Come to Kodaikanal, the “Queen of the Hills” and let us take care of you at the first resort in the area, Lilly’s ValleyResort.
